Celebrating the Class of 2025: CCA MFA in Writing Thesis Readings

On May 15, 2025, the CCA MFA in Writing program gathered in the Homeroom for an unforgettable evening of words, warmth, and community. Seven graduating students—Jeremy, Emma, MV, Stephanie, Armando, Alex, and Mady—took the mic to share excerpts from their final thesis projects.

Each reading was preceded by a heartfelt introduction from a faculty mentor, honoring the creative journeys that brought our students to this night and into the next chapter of their writing lives.

It was standing-room only. Friends, families, alumni, faculty, and fellow students filled the space with energy, laughter, and deep attention. There were cheers, tears, and even a few surprise guests—including a cameo from beloved faculty member Denise Newman.

As a program, we could not be more proud of this cohort. Over the past two years, they have shown courage, generosity, and extraordinary artistic growth. They’ve formed a true creative community—one that has challenged, supported, and inspired one another at every turn.

We’re grateful to the professors who guided them—through seminars, mentorships, workshops, and long, searching conversations. We’re also grateful to the staff and program leadership who made this night possible, as well as to everyone who joined us to celebrate.

To our graduates: thank you for showing us what it means to be writers in this moment. We can’t wait to see where you go next.
